Mi corazon was wrong…

Unfortunately for me  and the rest of el madridismo our hearts fooled us into believing that maybe we had a wee bit of chance in winning La Liga. Pero nada de nada… miracles simply just do not exist.

I know that in terms of records for the league we were outstanding. Ninety six points, 102 goals scored, and a spectacular number of victories is quite a feat! Nonetheless, no one hardly remembers second place and neither can we physically put those records broken into our trophy case, so in all it tends to feel as useless. Bueno ya nada se puede hacer. Especially considering the fact that most likely this so-called project is about to be dismantled by Tito Floren, but more on that tomorrow.

For now  I dwell and think of what could have been, and miserably grieve that la diosa cibeles must sleep alone and cold without her captain and Real Madrid scarf to protect her.

Realist vs. the dreamer

Let’s be realistic for a moment and set aside our team colors, Barca are pretty much hours away from winning their second league title in a row. For them to lose a single point in their turf seems almost crazy and especially considering who their opponent is. Our hopes are in the hands of Clemente and his Malaga to pull off the biggest upset in years and well I simply don’t trust that old fart’s slimy hands in giving us a helping hand. No senor! Unless Barcelona wake up on the wrong side of the bed or Messi gets a bad case of diarrhea minutes prior to the match, I can’t see this Barcelona slipping up. The truth hurts but it seems like it will be another year in blank.

However, forgetting about being a realist and simply thinking with my heart I have to hold on to that miracle that exist. It’s bleak but my corazoncito continues to push for me to believe and hold on with dear life for that miracle. One of the phrases that I detest the most in this sport is that of “in football anything is possible!”, now suddenly becomes my slogan. Sure its almost impossible to win the league, but I’ve seen crazier shit go down before, so why lose faith now? They say it ain’t over until the fat lady sings and until I hear her howl the words to ‘el Cant del Barca’, I won’t be ready to close the chapter to this passionate season of La Liga.

Still not believin’ the hype…

A very good first  half by our boys who put in the pressure from the start and were soon awarded for their efforts with a goal from Pipa, who now only stands two goals shy from reaching the midget Messi. The only negative point I can find in the 1st half is all those chances we missed! Good golly Valencia were lucky to not have been punished more severely!!

The second half we made things more difficult for ourselves and let Valencia get into the game, but just as they were finding their rhythm, a sublime Marcelo sent in a cross for Ronaldo to blast into back of the net. The crowd once again showed enthusiasm with chants of ole’s running through the Bernabeu. Can’t blame them as we are just one point away from Barcelona (well make it two because of the whole head to head matches thing), and our possibilities of winning the league are once again alive. However, I am a bit more reserved in my euphoria as I still find it quite difficult for Barcelona to slip up anymore. As Cruyff said today in his piece,” Barcelona will most likely not face a more complicated rival than Espanyol”, and I kind of agree with him. Anyway, I am mostly saying this because I don’t want to get too excited and be let down in the end. That would be too painful.

Thanks to a loyal friend…

Well just like I had predicted Espanyol managed to snatch a point from their eternal enemy Barcelona and breathe new life into the league. Y ojo los periquitos were unfortunate to not have won the game as they had plenty of chances to make los cules look more ridiculous than they already were looking. Its been awhile since a team has gone head to head with Barcelona and made them look this bad! Bravo periquitos!

Now Madrid must capitalize on this grand ol’ opportunity that’s been handed to them. It won’t be easy against Valencia, but this might be the last break we get!
